I teach and have taught classes in sculpture; wood and metals fabrication; digital fabrication; soft sculpture, sewing, and fibers; 3D modeling, animation, and virtual installation; interactive media and game design; kinetics and physical computing; performance; internet art and web design; and many intersections between and beyond these topics. My classes are collaborations with my students. If you're interested in seeing syllabi, teaching statements, or diversity statements, please reach out. I currently am chair of the Sculpture, Installation, and Site Work area at the School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University. I also have experience teaching at the K-5 level in elementary schools in NYC, in various afterschool and camp environments, and currently am piloting an artist in residence program teaching workshops to children ages 3-6 at the Children's School at CMU. I also teach workshops for High School students and run a summer arts + theater camp for 8-12 year olds at the Folly Tree Arboretum.

If you're interested in working with me, learning from me, or asking me to teach a workshop, please reach out to isla.hansen@gmail.com
